Fundraisers

There are fund-raisers throughout the year in which all band/color guard members are required to participate. These fund-raisers generate the monies that fund all aspects of the band program (music, transportation, equipment, instruments etc.). Below you will find a partial listing of the bands annual fund-raisers.

Our Philosophy

Throughout our season, we hope to instill a strong sense of self-discipline, self-motivation, and an inner drive for excellence in everything the students do. From our performance opportunities, we want them to gain the self-confidence to know there is nothing that they cannot achieve, no obstacle they cannot overcome, if they are willing to utilize all of their talents and work long and hard enough. Through their social relationships within the band, we want them to develop lifelong memories and friendships, which are bonded by the challenges they will face and overcome together. Most of all, we want them to be able to view band as an experience that had a positive effect on their lives for years to come.

Attitude and Demeanor

Members of the Ellet Band program are expected to always conduct themselves with Pride, Class and Dignity. All students represent Ellet High School, The City of Akron, their Parents and most importantly the Band. The conduct of the students, staff and parents should always be a positive reflection of the school community.

Perform and rehearse to the best of your ability.
Respect others and their property.
Inquire about what you can do to make the band its best.
Demonstrate respect for all chaperones and instructors.
Elevate yourself to excellence.

Very few extracurricular activities offer students such an experience and its unique set of challenges, which stimulate growth on so many levels:

Multi-Physical
Mental
Social
Time Sequence
Thought Organization
Teamwork
Group Cooperation

This activity demands total use of the body in rehearsal and performance, involving muscle tone, conditioned response to music and other stimuli, simultaneous coordination of the whole body: head, arms, legs, hands, feet; as well as poise and control while experiencing physical and mental pressure. The mental training requires multi-levels of thought organization including portrayals of moods harmonious with other performers, an understanding of why they execute each move and advanced awareness of what the next move will be and why it is there. The cumulative result of such physical and mental discipline is a student with deeper feelings of understanding and a more disciplined focus, which finds their way into study habits in scholastic efforts and a higher level of self-confidence.
